DIET:

DAIRY SENSTIVITY

Replace milk with

organic enriched soya drink
organic soya/rice
(organic) rice drink
goat - if your dairy sensitivity is moderate
Organic almond drink

There are many different brands available from Safeway co-op IGA, other grocery stores and natural health food stores.

Our eldest son likes So Nice Vanilla soya milk and Natura Strawberry or Vanilla soy beverage.  Personally, I do better on a half rice/half soya milk. My youngest son used to like vanilla Rice Dream beverage and wouldnt drink any other kind.

Replace butter/margarine with Earth Balance margarine (non GMO no hydrogenated fats)  (Available at community natural foods store.)
Replace ice cream with       Organic Soy Delicious (great taste)
Rice dream
Tofulatti
(Available at natural/health food stores and some Safeways/IGAs)
Replace yoghurt with

Olympic soya yoghurt (good taste but not organic)
Nancy’s soya yoghurt
Available at natural/health food stores and Safeways

Replace cheese with

Galaxie Foods Veggie Slices and shredded soya cheese has the best taste, but does contain some casein. So eat with moderation and is best to avoid if your dairy sensitivity is severe.
Soymage grated “Parmesan” soya cheese
Once in a while goat feta cheese

There are new kinds of cheese coming to the supermarkets regularly. Some are made with almond “milk”. Again it’s a question of taste.

There are many other types of dairy free cheeses available to try, just be sure to check the ingredients.

AVOID

All dairy including products containing lactoserum, whey powder, casein, milk solids, powdered milk, buttermilk powder and egg white. The latter contains avidin which binds with the biotin of the egg yolk rendering this vitamin unusable. Also patients sensitive to the protein in milk are often sensitive to the protein in eggs which are found in egg whites. Egg yolks are a good source of vitamins.
